Research Triangle Park
The Triangle Park metropolitan area of Raleigh, Cary, Durham, and
Chapel Hill, is located in the central area of beautiful North
Carolina. The largest research park in the world benefits from North
Carolina’s programs which involve the cooperation of the business
community, the government, and the educational system in the
creation of one of the most successful development programs ever.
In 1959, 7,000 acres of North Carolina pine forest was decided on
for location of this great experiment. Today R&D related businesses
and organizations account for more than 90% of usage of the Park.
About 157 organizations are represented at RTP, and multinational
corporations employ approximately 82% of the 45,000 employees at RTP.
Duke University, North Carolina State University, University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Meredith College, North Carolina
Central University, and Peace College with world-wide reputations
for excellence in their fields are all local to the Triangle Park.
