Cary
Cary, North Carolina is located in North Carolina's Piedmont region,
next to Research Triangle Park, and minutes from the Raleigh-Durham
International Airport and Raleigh, the state capitol of North
Carolina. Founded by Allison Francis Page in the 1860's(the hotel
that he built is now the Page-Walker Arts & History Center). Cary
was named in honor of Samuel Fenton Cary, a nationally-known leader
of the Temperance movement.
Professional employment is high in Cary, which boasts the highest
concentration of Ph.D.s of any community in the country. Cary’s
higher education is served by eight Colleges, universities and
professional schools, including the world-renowned Duke University
and North Carolina State University at Raleigh, 5 Junior colleges
and technical institutes, 24 Medical and Surgical Hospitals, and
many clinics.
The Cary Heritage Museum, a professional soccer game with the
Carolina Railhawks, entertainment at the local colleges, a drive to
the beach, or the Great Smoky Mountains, or a night on the town in
Raleigh, compete with Cary’s other recreational offerings for spare
time entertainment.
Cary's public transportation includes the new GoTriangle! which
serves the entire Triangle area in NC. Cary has also pioneered local
transportation with C-Tran, a Town of Cary service. C-Tran offers
door-to-door transportation by reservation to and from anywhere in
Cary.
Cary, North Carolina, the 7th largest city in North Carolina, was
